Titans Defense Slows the V-Hawks

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Viterbo University Men's Basketball team fell in their first matchup of the season with Indiana University-South Bend 72-69. The V-Hawks sink to 8-17 (6-12 CCAC) while the Titans rise to 16-10 (13-5 CCAC).

Colin Adams scored the opening four for the V-Hawks as Landon Thousand dished an assist and drove for the layup. The V-Hawks keeping a close game find Carson Koepnick draining back to back threes followed by Treyton Fletcher with back to back layups, one on the put back. On another put back Fletcher would draw and complete the and one before the half was up.

The Titans starting the second half with a seven point run ended by Adams on back to back layups. Braden Crubel scoring the following 10 points between threes and free throws for VU backed up by Adams with four more. On the deficit Cole Crubel would make a series of threes and layups to tie up the game, Thousand finding Christian Rohde for one last dunk that wouldn't be enough.

C. Crubel led the V-Hawks with 13, while Adams, B. Crubel, and Koepnick followed with 12 each. Quentez Columbus led the Titans with 16.

The V-Hawks were outshot from the floor 50% to 44.4% and from three 36% to 31%, while committing one extra turnover 10-9.

The V-Hawks return to action Wednesday February 19^th at home for senior night.
