V-Hawks Top Saints in Nailbiter

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo University Men's Basketball team took down Holy Cross College in a nailbiter on Saturday afternoon 65-61. The V-Hawks rise to 4-13 (2-8 CCAC) while the Saints fall to 7-10 (4-6 CCAC).

Colin Adams found Landon Thousand for an early three to take the lead over the Saints, with Adams following with a putback. Thousand making the and one drawing the foul. The V0Hawks carrying momentum would find Cole Crubel making the jumper before turning around with the assist to Braden Crubel for three. Christian Rohde on the offensive layup would find the putback, not a minute later finding C. Crubel for three.

Thousand and Adams taking control once again would score the opening four for the V-Hawks. The Saints crawling back from a deficit, C. Crubel would find Kole Johnson for three before drawing the foul, knocking down all three free throws. With less than five minutes left on the clock and a narrow lead, Thousand would take control of the floor finding Rohde for the layup before punching in one of his own. Off a block Admas would get the ball up the floor drawing the foul with one second to go sealing the win for the V-Hawks.

Adams led the V-Hawks with 19 and Thousand with 13. Joey Garwood led the Saints with 23 points.

The V-Hawks outshot the Saints from the floor 43.9% to 41.1% while also outrebounding 37-30.

The V-Hawks return to action Wednesday January 22 at Governors State.
