V-Hawks Grounded by IUNW

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo University Men's Basketball team fell on Wednesday evening 86-74 in a matchup with Indiana University-Northwest. The V-Hawks fall to 3-13 (1-8 CCAC) while the Red Hawks improve to 13-4 (7-2 CCAC).

Cole Crubel made an impact early, hitting a three-pointer at 18:08 to tie the game at 5-5, assisted by Christian Rohde. Shortly after, Colin Adams aggressively attacked the basket but missed a layup. He redeemed himself with a made layup at 16:39 and drew a foul, completing a three-point play to bring Viterbo to 8-7. Crubel continued to create opportunities, hitting another three-pointer at 15:40, assisted by Adams, giving Viterbo a brief lead of 11-10. Lydell King added to the scoring by making a jump shot at 15:08 and a layup at 7:41, helping Viterbo stay competitive despite Indiana Northwest's offense.

 The second half began with Crubel scoring a jump shot at 19:36, assisted by Landon Thousand. Shortly after, Crubel drained a three-pointer at 18:58, cutting into Indiana Northwest's lead. Lydell King showcased his defensive skills with a steal at 18:26, followed by a layup at 18:18. This sequence brought Viterbo closer, energizing the team. Kole Johnson hit a three-pointer at 10:41, narrowing the gap to 61-55. Colin Adams remained an offensive force, making a jump shot at 6:45 and a layup at 7:29. His free throws at various moments, including a pair at 5:30, kept Viterbo within reach.

Adams led the V-Hawks with 22 and C. Crubel with 14. Trace Williams led the Red Hawks with 30 points.

The V-Hawks were outshot from the floor 54.5% to 41.3% though shot better from three 34.8-26.3 and committed less turnovers 10-13.

The V-Hawks return to action on Saturday, January 18, at home to host Indiana South Bend.
