LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo University Men's Basketball team fell to St. Ambrose University 61-55 Wednesday evening. The V-Hawks fall to 3-11 (1-6 CCAC) while the Fighting Bees improve to 11-3 (4-3 CCAC).
On a fast break Landon Thousand would find Cole Crubel for a three to put the V-Hawks on the board backed up by another three by C. Crubel 30 seconds later. Brayden Bradway hitting a jumper to keep the lead, Colin Adams working the defense drawing a foul taking to the line before driving in the lane once again for the layup. Less than a minute to go in the half Bradway would make a layup off an offensive rebound.
Freshman, Christian Rohde with the jumper would end the seven point dry spell for the V-Hawks early in the second half. Not long after would Bradway drain a three, before Lukas Hoffman would back him up with a three of his own. The V-Hawks falling behind, working to gain a lead again, Adams rebounding, going coast to coast for the jumper before C. Crubel would hit back to back three's. Adam's not giving up on offense would claim the final six points of the game for the V-Hawks.
Adams and C. Crubel led the V-Hawks with 15 each and Bradway with 7 points. Will Spriggs led the Fighting Bees with 15 points.
The V-Hawks were outshot from the floor 40.4% to 35.9% and from three 38.1% to 34.8%, though outrebounded 40-35.
The V-Hawks return to action on Saturday, January 11, on the road at St. Francis.
