V-Hawks Down Jaguars at Home

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo University Men's Basketball team came out on top in their first home conference matchup against Governors State 87-80. The V-Hawks improve to 3-6 (1-1 CCAC) while the Jaguars fall 5-5 (1-1 CCAC).

Starting from behind, the V-Hawks would have to work to make a comeback, with Jack Voigt scoring back to back layups and Colin Adams scoring the next seven of nine shots made. The V-Hawks finding their rhythm, Lydell King would find Cole Crubel for two quick threes to take the lead for the first time in the game, followed by Braden Crubel finding C. Crubel for another on three. Brayden Bradway, finding the hoop would score four of six points with only a few minutes left in the half, Adams scoring the final layup of the half.

Adams coming off the half hot would score eight of the V-Hawks first 10 points of the half, Voigt helping with the climb for the lead. Voigt sprinkling in two layups, before C. Crubel would take to the free throw line. With the game on the line, and the Jaguars in foul trouble, Adams, C. Crubel, and Bradway would take to the line making all to clinch the conference win.

Adams led the V-Hawks with 25, C. Crubel with 18, and Bradway with 11 points. Javon Johnson led the Jaguars with 21.

The V-Hawks were outshot from the floor 52.7% to 51.6 %, from three 40-25%, though committed less turnovers 17-24 and outrebounded 33-27.

The V-Hawks return to action on Saturday, December 7, on the road at Calumet.
