V-Hawks Drop Conference Opener

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Viterbo University Men's Basketball team fell in their conference opener Wednesday night at Holy Cross 72-59. The V-Hawks fall to 2-6 (0-1 CCAC) while the Saints rise to 3-4 (1-0 CCAC).
Cole Crubel came out hot making seven of the V-Hawks opening ten, Jack Voigt backing him up with a jumper and two drawn fouls, making three shots from the line. With only six seconds remaining in the half Lydell King would find C. Crubel for a crucial three to bring the score to 28-39 Saints at the half.
The V-Hawks looking to make a comeback coming out of the half, Brayden Braday would score five of the next eight, also claiming a block. Finding a rhythm Carson Koepnick would drain two jumpers and a pair of free throws, before C. Crubel would capitalize on five more on the board.
C. Crubel led the V-Hawks with 20, Koepnick with nine, and Bradway with 8 points. Phil Robles ii led the Saints with 14.
The V-Hawks were outshot from the floor 44.4% to 36.4%, from three54.2-26.1%, and committed less turnovers 9-13.
The V-Hawks return to action on Tuesday, November 26, as they host Governors State.
