Bruin’s Hot Shooting Too Much for V-Hawks
LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo University Men's Basketball team fell Saturday afternoon against Bellevue University 72-55. The V-Hawks fall to 2-5 while the Bruins rise to 3-2.
The V-Hawks would begin with a nine-point deficit in the first four minutes, of the bench Jack Voigt, scoring back to back layups would get the V-Hawks on the board. Struggling to find a rhythm Colin Adams would find Cole Crubel and Treyton Fletcher four two jumpers bringing the score to 13-10 Bellevue. Lydell King, driving through the lane would claim a bucket and would draw a foul sinking a pair of free throws, as the final scorer of the half.
Christian Rohde opened the second half with a jumper, the Bruins would find a eight point run before Braden Crubel and Adams would put a stop to it with back to back layups. Fletcher would score on a putback and capitalize on a BU turnover. Foul territory approaching fast Voigt would head to the line, making the first, making up the missed attempt with a layup a minute later. C. Crubel ringing home a jumper with five minutes remaining closing the gap on the lead before Adams drew a foul making both free throws, though it would not be enough to close the gap.
Adams, C. Crubel, and Fletcher would lead with eight points each. TJ Fritz led the Bruins with 14 each.
The Bruins outshot the V-Hawks 50.0% to 42.9% from the floor while also committing less turnovers 11-15 and outrebounding 28-27.
The V-Hawks return to action on Wednesday, November 20, as they travel to Holy Cross to open conference.
