V-Hawks Fall on Night 1
LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo University Men's Basketball team fell Friday evening againt past conference foe Valley City State 89-71. The V-Hawks fall to 2-4 while the Vikings rise to 6-0.
Colin Adams would find the open lane and score early, followed by a three from Cole Crubel. The V-Hawks would struggle to score though Brayden Bradway's series of three throws and a three would soar the V-Hawks into the lead midway through the half. With plenty of time left in the half the V-Hawks would begin to fall behind due to the Vikings strong defensive pressure. Drawing foul after foul C. Crubel would be found at the free throw line. Down ten points with only two minutes remaining in the half Adams would drive to the lane coming out successfully twice more.
The V-Hawks came out of the half with a plan, Adams leading the charge with a seven-point run of his own. Lydell King would take his opportunity scoring on a pair of layups, followed by two quick layups by Adams. In the final minutes of the game Jack Voigt would draw the foul and make both free throws, followed by Adams with one more point.
Adams led the V-Hawks with 26 and C. Crubel with 8 points. Lamar Grayson led the Vikings with 29.
The Vikings outshot the V-Hawks 50.7% to 41.0% from the floor while also committing less turnovers 9-20, though the V-Hawks outrebounded 40-33.
The V-Hawks return to action on Saturday, November 16, as they host Bellevue for Day two of the Viterbo University Classic.
