V-Hawks Travel to Dakota State for NSAA Tournament

BISMARK, N.D. – The North Star Athletic Association has officially released the seedings for the 2024 NSAA Men's Basketball Postseason Tournament. Viterbo earned the #5 seed, and will travel to #4 Dakota State (SD) on Wednesday, February 21 with game time at 7:30 PM.

Bellevue (Neb.) secured the regular season title with an 8-4 conference record, earning the top seed in the tournament and a first-round bye.

Mayville State (ND) clinched the two seed, going 7-5 in conference play.

Viterbo was one of four teams with a 6-6 record in league play, along with Waldorf (Iowa), Dakota State (SD), and Dickinson State (ND). Waldorf owned the tiebreaker after holding a 4-2 record within the four teams and will be the #3 seed. Dakota State and Viterbo were tied at 3-3 record each.  Dakota State broke the tie via head-to-head versus Waldorf with 1-1 record compared to Viterbo 0-2 record versus WU. DaSU will be the No. 4 seed and VU as No. 5 seed. Dickinson will be the No. 6 seed with 2-4 record within four teams' tie.

Valley City went 3-9 in NSAA games for the #7 seed.

The quarterfinals round open on Wednesday with Waldorf hosting Dickinson State, Dakota State welcoming Viterbo, and Valley City State traveling to Mayville State.

Sunday's semifinals will feature Bellevue hosting the winner of VU-DaSU and winners between VCSU-MSU and DiSU-WU at the higher seed.

The North Star Athletic Association men's basketball postseason championship game will be held on Sunday, March 3 at the highest remaining seed.

The NSAA postseason tournament champion earns an automatic bid to the NAIA Men's Basketball National Tournament's opening round.  The national tournament four-teams pod first- and second rounds are scheduled for March 15-16.

The winners of the NAIA's opening round will advance to the final site at the Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo., on March 21-26.
