Adams Double Double Fuels V-Hawks Win

DICKINSON, ND – The Viterbo University Men's Basketball team defeated Dickinson State University (ND) in an NSAA matchup Saturday night, 78-66. The V-Hawks improve to 11-14 (5-5 NSAA), while the Blue Hawks fall to 14-11 (5-5 NSAA).

Colin Adams led the offense early with two layups and a three, followed by a three from Garret Locy for the 14-10 lead. Cole Crubel and Carson Koepnick each hit jumpers to keep Viterbo ahead, and Locy's second three brought the score to 29-22. Nick Malovrh hit a three of his own, but the Blue Hawks toed the score 34-34 going into halftime.

Jack Monis' layup started a 12-0 run that included a pair of threes to go up 46-36 early in the half, and Stefan Popovic hit a three of his own. Malovrh and Adams helped keep Viterbo ahead by answering each Blue Hawk basket. Locy scored again from deep with 7:23 left in the half, and Dakota Mannel hit his late free throws to secure the 78-66 victory.

Malovrh led the V-Hawks with 16 points, Adams had a 13-point, 12-rebound double-double, and Crubel scored 14.  Kose Egbule had 17 for the Blue Hawks.

Viterbo outshot Dickinson from the floor, 52.6% - 39%, and from three, 55% - 32.3%, grabbed more rebounds, 41-29, but committed more turnovers, 14-12.

Viterbo returns to action on Wednesday, February 14 at Waldorf University (Iowa).
