Falcons Hot Shooting Too Much for the V-Hawks

RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The Viterbo University Men's Basketball team fell 78-65 on the road to UW-River Falls on Saturday night. The V-Hawks fall to 5-5 on the year, while the Falcons improve to 3-4.

River Falls scored the first 11 point of the game before Cole Crubel hit a pair of free throws to get the V-Hawks on the board at 15:45. Ther Falcons extended their lead to 22-12 as Nick Malovrh converted two layups and set up Ben Olson for another. The V-Hawks gained a bit of momentum going into halftime as Olson and Stefan Popovic each hit a three, and Colin Adams threw down a dunk, and Viterbo trailed 38-28 at the break.

UWRF scored the first five points in the second as well before two free throws from Olson and a triple by Malovrh. Carson Koepnick hit a three at 12:39, followed by Olson converting a layup and VU only trailed by six, 43-49. However, the Falcons were able to answer each of the V-Hawks baskets, and slowly built back their double digit lead. Malovrh and Koepnick each hit free throws down the stretch, but the V-Hawks would lose, 78-65.

Olson led all scorers with 26 points, while Malovrh had 16 with seven assists. Colin Adams grabbed seven boards. Logan Jedwabny and Nah Hanson each recorded 17 points for the Falcons.

UWRF shot 49% from the floor, including 50% from three, compared to 41% (35.3% 3-pt) for the V-Hawks. They also grabbed more rebounds, 37-25.

The V-Hawks return to action on Wednesday, December 6 at Saint Xavier University (Ill.) at 7 PM.
