Men's Basketball drops close one to Dakota State at home

LA CROSSE, Wis. - The Viterbo University Men's Basketball team faced the Dakota State University Trojans on Friday after having just played them last Saturday on their home court.

After a very back-and-forth first half, the V-Hawks went into the locker room trailing 35-31. The Trojans went up to start the second half and as soon as the lead started growing, Nicholas Malovrh sank a three to cut the Trojan lead to only five. Dakota State was able to extend their lead to 12 after a sequence of threes. A Robert Cunitz and-one put the V-Hawks back within eight points with less than five minutes remaining in regulation. Brady Polk sank two quick threes to cut the Trojan lead to five with one minute left in the game. Cunitz had a three-point play after getting fouled while shooting to cut the Trojan lead to four. However, it wouldn't be enough to secure the win.

Jack Monis led the way offensively for Viterbo, scoring 24 points. Polk and Malovrh followed behind with 12 and ten points, respectively.

The V-Hawks will be back in action at home on Saturday to face conference-opponent Bellevue. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. CST. Follow the action on viterboathletics.com or by following us on social media.
