Three Teams Qualify for NECC Playoffs

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC) has officially released playoff qualifiers for the spring semester, and three V-Hawks teams will complete in the postseason.

The Counter Strike 2 squad of Garrett Eick, David Ryckman, Ethan Davis, Tristen Theders, and Mikey Voge makes the playoffs after going 2-2 over the semester. The V-Hawks alternated wins and losses, starting the season with a loss to Conestoga College, then beating Tarleton State, followed by a loss to Michigan State, and ending with a tin over the University of Windsor. All games were decided 2-0. The Counter Strike playoffs kickoff on Wednesday, March 20 at 7 pm.

Voge, Anthony Pope, Brown, John Roskos, and Boardman lead the Overwatch team to a 3-2 record this spring. They began the semester with a pair of 3-0 sweeps over Texas A&M-Corpus Cristi and UW-Platteville. Following a pair of setbacks, the V-Hawks finished the regular season by defeating York University (Neb.), 3-2. The Overeatch playoffs start on Thursday at 7 pm.

The Rainbow Six Siege team, consisting of Devin Brown, Ben Fleuchaus, Draven Williamson, Jayziah Calo, and Alex Boardman, began the spring season with an 0-2 loss to Pennsylvania Western University at Edinboro, but followed that with four straight wins. The V-Hawks only dropped a single match over that span during a 2-1 win over Fanshawe College. The first match of the Rainbow Six playoffs will be on Friday, March 22 at 7 pm.
