Rainbow 6 Qualifies for NECC Playoffs

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC) has officially announced the qualifiers for the 2023 Rainbow Six: Siege Playoffs, and Viterbo Esports has qualified in their first season of competition.

The V-Hawks, led by In-Game Leader Ben "StarlingNite" Fleuchaus, went 3-1 in preseason, clutching an 8-7 win over Cal State-Sacramento, then falling 3-7 to the University of the Cumberlands on the first night of games. During the second week of the preseason, Viterbo trounced Robert Morris, 7-0, and ended with one more close win over Louisville, 8-7.

The V-Hawks started the regular season with a 2-0 win over Central Methodist, with Devin "Eggsgoinghom" Brown being the highest rated player in the league, but then dropped back-to-back matches 0-2, first to Northern Iowa, then to Wayne State. A 2-0 win over the University of Saint Mary got the V-Hawks back on track before ending the year with a final 2-0 win over Baker University.

Viterbo is one of eight teams to qualify for playoffs, the others including Wayne State, University of Northern Iowa, Central Methodist, Texas Tech University, Texas A&M University, Tarleton State University, and California State University Sacramento.

The V-Hawks take on Texas Tech University in the first round of the playoffs at 8 PM on Tuesday, November 14. The semifinal round is on November 21, and the Championship game is on November 28.
