McDonald Leads V-Hawks to Victory in First Valorant Match
LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo University Esports team topped Bushnell University (Ore.) 2-1 in their first ever Valorant match in program history.
The V-Hawks started the first match on Acsent strong, building a 12-3 round lead before winning 13-5 behind Brendan McDonlad's 25 kills. Justin Kratzenstein also reached 20 kills, Mikey Voge had an all-around game with 13 kills, three plants, and a defuse, Alex Boardman managed two plants, and Draven Williamson led all players with three defuses.
The second match, played on Icebox, would be a bounce back game for Bushnell, winning 13-7. The loss came despite McDonald's 20 kills and Voge's four plants.
The grudge match on Pearl would be extremely close, tied 6-6 at halftime. However, McDonald's 31 kills would be too much for the Beacons, as he earned three eliminations in match point, including the 1v1 for the win. Voge added 17 kills and Boardman had two plants.
Brenden McDonald was the team MVP for all 3 maps with a 300+ average combat score in every game. The full stats are below:
