V-Hawks Post Season-High Score at Regionals

CRETE, Neb. – The Viterbo University Dance team began postseason competition this weekend with the Regional Competition and National Qualifier at Doane University (Neb.). The V-Hawks took third place out of nine teams.

Midland University claimed the team title with a total score of 91.5.

The V-Hawks recorded a preliminary round score o 84.17, and improved upon that with 85.83 in the final round. With the final score accounting for 25% from prelims and 75% from finals, the V-Hawks finished at 85.42, their best-ever score at Regionals, and their best score this season.

"This weekend's competition was a turning point for our team this season," said Head Coach Anna Luz. "The dancers really leaned into the choreography and the audience could tell they portrayed a character at an artistic level. Their skills were excellent and we earned record high scores. Very proud of this team!"

The qualifiers for the National Competition will be announced on Monday, March 18. It will take place in Ypsilanti, Mich., March 29 and 30.
