Nyah Brooks Named NAIA Co-Dancer of the Year

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The NAIA has officially announced that Viterbo University Senior Nyah Brooks has been named the Co-Dancer of the Year in the NAIA. She shares the award with Makayla Messaris of Oklahoma City University. These two earned the honor for scoring the best in their All-American Audition.

"Nyah's talent is truly unmatched," said Head Coach Anna Luz. "She certainly has a natural ability, but it's elevated by her hard work and dedication. Nyah is constantly striving to be the hardest-working person in any room she enters. I am beyond proud of her, as is her entire team. She is so deserving of this honor!"

Brooks adds this incredible accomplishment to her resume as the most decorated athlete in Viterbo Dance history. She was named All-America her freshman year, while posting the second highest individual score. She added another All-America selection her sophomore year, and was named Honorable Mention in her Junior campaign.

"This is an amazing honor for Nyah," said Viterbo Director of Athletics Barry Fried. "I know she's put in countless hours and a ton of hard work to get to this point, so I'm thrilled for her. In addition to her individual success, she's been a key pillar in elevating our dance program to national prominence. I also want to thank our coaching staff and her family for helping and supporting her along the way."

Brooks led the V-Hawks to their first two National Championship appearances over the past two seasons, and has been a part of the team on all of the V-Hawks top five performances in program history.
