Competitive Dance goes 1-1 in Mount Mercy Duals

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Viterbo University Competitive Dance team competed in the Mount Mercy Dual on Friday night. The V-Hawks went 1-1 in the competition, defeating Mount Mercy and then losing to Grand View.

The V-Hawks defeated Mount Mercy with a score of 78.85, with Mount Mercy scoring 62.65, respectively. Then, the V-Hawks faced Grand View and although scoring in the high 70's, (76.40), it wasn't enough to beat Grand View's score of 87.50.

"We are very happy with the scores from this competition," said Head Dance Coach Anna Luz, "This is the earliest in the season that we've ever competed, so we had to push ourselves the last two weeks to be prepared. Last season we averaged a 74.8 so to be starting the season off scoring in the high 70's is a great start. We still have a lot to do but will only improve from here!"

The next competition for the Viterbo Dance team will take place on Saturday, February 5 at the Aquinas Saints ShowDown. You can also see the team in action next Friday at the Viterbo Basketball doubleheader as the halftime performers.
