Bio

Brady Banse (Viterbo Alum, ’14) will enter his 5th season at Viterbo University as the Recruiting Coordinator in 2022; this will be his 10th season overall in collegiate baseball. Since coming back to Viterbo, he has helped coordinate recruiting classes that would include a 1st Team All-Conference Player (Darrian Escobar-Winter), an All-Conference Honorable Mention player (Cole Benson), while also compiling one of the best offensive teams the V-Hawks have had in the past decade in 2021.

Prior to arriving at Viterbo, Banse served as the Head Assistant Baseball Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at fellow North Star Athletic Association member Dakota State University (S.D.) for the 2017 & 2018 seasons. At DSU, Banse was primarily responsible for recruiting and retaining student-athletes while also leading the pitching staff. During his time at DSU, he was instrumental in bringing the overall roster size from thirteen to over forty-five student-athletes. While at DSU, he recruited 2 future 1st Team All-Conference Players (Sam Drummond, Chris Kropuenske), 2 future All-Conference Honorable Mention Players (Brett Sanchez, Jerrett Plunkett), and helped guide DSU to an upset win over (RV) Mayville State in the opening round of the NSAA Conference Tournament.

As a student-athlete, Banse began his collegiate playing career at Riverland Community College (Austin, MN) under Scott Koenigs. During his time at RCC, he comprised a 14-4 career record, was ranked in the Top 50 nationally in ’08 and ’09 in strikeouts per nine innings, and made a Junior College World Series appearance. Upon completing his time at RCC, Banse then moved onto the current NCAA Division I University of Nebraska at Omaha to play under Bob Herold.

Banse finished his collegiate career as a member of the Viterbo baseball program, where he was an All-Conference Honorable Mention recipient. While at Viterbo, Banse ranked in the top 100 nationally in several statistical pitching categories: 21st in total walks allowed, 26th in total runs allowed, 32nd in walks allowed per 9 innings, 50th in total earned runs allowed, and 77th in total earned run average. Banse currently sits third all-time at Viterbo for career earned run average.

Overall, as a collegiate player, Banse compiled a career win/loss record of 19-7. This included 14 complete games, 2 saves, and an earned-run average of 2.76 across 166 innings.
