
Viterbo Eliminated in St. Ambrose Matchup
JOLIET, Ill. – The Viterbo University Baseball team fell to St. Ambrose University in their final game of the conference tournament 8-2. The V-Hawks finish the season 24-25 (CCAC 19-13), while the Fighting Bees rise to 26-24.
The V-Hawks would go up a run in the first inning though they would quickly fall behind in the third inning. With an eight inning push the V-Hawks would score another run though they couldn't catch up, the Bees going up six.
Anthony Sanchez would pitch four innings on the mound with five strikeouts in 107 pitches, throwing 67 strikes. In relief Brandon Jaenke would pitch the remaining four innings with 41 strikes only letting up two additional runs off four hits.
At the plate Gavin Daniel would lead the charge with three hits, Xavier Gilmore following with two and two RBIs, and Brett Stuessel and Spencer Hans would take to sacrifice bunts.
