V-Hawks Strikeout at Upper Iowa

FAYETTE, Iowa – The Viterbo University Baseball team fell 6-5 in a single non conference game at Upper Iowa. The V-Hawks sink to 15-17 (CCAC 10-10.

The Peacocks went up quick in the first inning though the V-Hawks would tie it up in the fourth before a strong fifth and sixth inning by UIU. Holding the Peacocks to six the V-Hawks would inch back, falling short by a single run in the top of the ninth.

Joe Nelan would start on the mound for the V-Hawks pitching two innings, including a single strikeout, four hits and a run. For the next two innings in relief Adam Olson would also strikeout a single batter letting up three hits and no runs. Pitching an inning each Anthony Reza, Dominic LeBlanc, Brandon Shepherd, and Nolan Hines would close out the game.

Grabbing nine hits on the game the V-Hawks would take five RBIs Gavin Daniel and Brett Stuessel claiming two each, Dane Mediger taking the fifth. Spencer Hans on base would also collect a stolen base.

The V-Hawks return to action Friday, April 11 at home to host Calumet College of Saint Joseph.
