V-Hawks Set to Meet Waldorf in NSAA First Round

BISMARCK, N.D. – The brackets and pairings for the 2024 North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Postseason Baseball Tournament are set.  The postseason tournament returns to Dakota Community Bank & Trust Ballpark in Dickinson, N.D, as Dickinson State (N.D.) serving as the host for the second straight year. Three opening round games are set to start on Friday, May 3.

The double elimination tournament runs through Monday, May 6 with the championship game scheduled for 3:30 p.m. (Central Time)/2:30 p.m. (Mountain Time).  There is an 'if necessary' second championship game on Tuesday, May 7, at 1 p.m. (CT)/12 p.m. (MT).

All seven NSAA teams will compete in the postseason tournament.

The V-Hawks earned the No. 4 seed after posting a, 11-36 (10-13 NSAA) record on the year. They will start the tournament by taking on the No. 5 seed, Waldorf University (Iowa) (19-26, 9-14 NSAA) on Friday at 7 PM.

Bellevue (Neb.), ranked No. 15 in the latest NAIA Baseball Coaches' Top 25 national poll, won their fifth straight North Star baseball regular-season title.  The Bruins finished their league schedule with a 21-2 record and hold an overall record of 36-12.

Dakota State (S.D.) is the No. 2 seed for the postseason tournament with 35-14 overall record and 17-6 NSAA conference record.  Valley City State (N.D.) finished third in the league with an 11-13 record (19-30 overall record). 

Dickinson State is No. 6 seed with 7-16 NSAA conference record and 13-33 overall record, followed by Mayville State (N.D.) at 6-17 NSAA conference record (11-37 overall record).

The tournament continues Saturday with a pair of loser's out games, followed by another pair of games in the winner's bracket.

Two more elimination games are scheduled for Sunday.  The remaining undefeated teams will meet on the same day for a spot in the championship game on Monday, May 6.

The final elimination game before the championship game is set for Monday, May 6, with the winner advancing to the championship game.

The tournament champion receives the NSAA's automatic berth to the NAIA Baseball National Championship Opening Round, which will be played on May 13-16 on 10 different sites announced by the NAIA national office Monday.  The national tournament's opening round winners move on to the Avista-NAIA Baseball World Series in Lewiston, Idaho on May 24-31.

All games are nine (9) innings with 10-run mercy rule after 7 innings.  There will be no 10-run rule in the championship game.

Students (K-12)/ Senior Citizens- $5.00/day (or $15 tournament pass)

NSAA Students with school ID, NSAA Passes, and NAIA Passes: Free
