V-Hawks Sweep Player of the Week Honors

BISMARK, ND – The North star Athletic Association (NSAA) has released their fourth edition of the Baseball Players of the Week. Viterbo swept the weekly honors, as Blake Warner collected his second Player of the Week award of the Year, and Cale Beckman was selected as the Pitcher of the Week.

Warner produced a batting average of .600, an on-base percentage of .652, and a slugging percentage of 1.250 as Viterbo (Wis.) went 3-2 record for the week.  He was 3-of-5 at the plate with a home run, double, single, and drove in five runs against NCAA Division II Wisconsin-Parkside.  Warner also highlighted the week with a huge game against Dickinson State (N.D.) where he went perfect 5-of-5 at the plate and smashed two home runs in the same inning and collected nine RBIs in VU's 19-5 game two victory.  He also hit a double in the extra inning to set up the game winning in VU's 1-0 victory over the Blue Hawks.  For the week, Warner went 12-of-20 at the plate with four doubles, three home runs, and drove in 14 runs.  He also registered three walks.  He posted a perfect fielding percentage (1.000) with 31 total chances (28 put-outs and three assists). During the week, he moved into the V-Hawks top-five in career home runs and RBIs.

Beckman threw a 7-inning no-hitter in Viterbo's (Wis.) home conference opener, a 1-0 victory over Dickinson State (N.D.).  He struck out the Blue Hawks' hitters eight times and did not issue a walk.  He posted a K/9 ratio of 10.29 in the game and produced the first V-Hawk no-hitter in at least ten years.  He also pitched one inning at the NCAA Division II Wisconsin-Parkside.  For the week, Beckman posted an earned run average of 0.00 in eight innings and limited the opponents to two hits.

The V-Hawks now look ahead to a series with Valley City State University (ND).
