V-Hawks Fall to Warriors in NSAA Tournament

DICKINSON, ND – The #6 Viterbo University Baseball team fell 4-1 to #3 Waldorf University (Iowa) in the first round of the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Conference Tournament on Friday night. The V-Hawks now sit at 15-30 on the season while the Warriors rise to 22-24.

WU took the lead in the bottom of the first with an RBI-single and extended that to 0-2 in the third with a solo homerun. The V-Hawks got on the board with an RBI grounder by Hunter Hess that scored Spencer Hans, but Waldorf added another in the seventh on a passed ball. Despite a hit in the eighth for Viterbo, the V-Hawks would not score and WU would add to their lead with an RBI single for a 1-4 win.

Blake Warner had two hits for Viterbo, while Hess had the one RBI. Atticus Smith and Juan Jorge each had two hits and an RBI for the Warriors. Alec Danen recorded the loss despite 10 strikeouts, and Ryan Meyer earned the win in 7.0 innings.

Viterbo looks forward to a Loser's Out Game with #7 Valley City State at 1:00 PM Saturday.
