Five V-Hawks Honored by the NSAA

DICKINSON, N.D. – The North Star Athletic Association announced its postseason baseball awards Thursday evening at the Biesiot Activities Center on the campus of Dickinson State (N.D.), and five V-Hawks were recognized by the league. The NSAA Baseball All-Conference teams, postseason awards and Gold Glove team were voted on by the league's coaches.  The Champions of Character recipients were also announced.

Kendal Hofer, Second-Team, INF, Sr., Washington, Ill. – Hofer adds to his second-team selection last year with another second-team selection this year. He was top-20 ion the conference with 46 hits, including eight doubles and four home runs, he hit .309. On defense, he fielded .891 with 28 put outs and 86 assists on 128 total chances. He was a part of 16 doubles plays, third most in the conference.

Blake Warner, Second-Team, 1B, Jr., Hastings, Minn. – Warner, who was named NSAA Honorable Mention last year, had a perfect fielding percentage, with 116 put outs and 11 assists with zero errors on 127 total attempts. He was also a part of 12 double plays. He hit .369 with 31 hits and five home runs.

Gavin Daniel, Honorable Mention, OF, Jr., Oconomowoc, Wis. – Daniel collects his first All-Conference honor of his career, being name honorable mention for his efforts in the outfield, where he fielded .964 percent, had 79 put outs, and turned two double plays. On offense, he hit .311 with a .419 obp, recorded 42 hits, with seven doubles, and a triple.

Anthony Sanchez, Honorable Mention, SP, So., Fontana, Calif. – Sanchez also collects his first all-conference award, after going 2-4 on the mound with 14 total appearances. He pitched 46.2 innings, held a 3.86 ERA (eighth in NSAA), struck out 42 batters (8.10 K/9), and had the third most saves in the league (3).

Conley O'Keefe, C/OF, Jr., Milwaukee, Wis. – O'Keefe was selected as Viterbo's Champion of Character. O'Keefe earned this award for embodying the NAIA's five core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship and servant leadership both on and off the field.

The NSAA Baseball First-Team All-Conference consists of 17 recipients.  The Second Team All-Conference has 19 selections.  Bellevue (Neb.) landed a total of 12 selections to the All-Conference teams, with nine athletes being named to First Team and three athletes on the Second Team.
