Baseball Releases 2022-23 Schedule
LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo University Baseball team released it's 2023 season schedule on Tuesday. The V-Hawks look to improve on a 16-36 season that saw a strong finish in the North Star Athletic Association conference tournament in which Viterbo upset higher seeds Dakota State (S.D.) and Valley City State (N.D.).
The V-Hawks, led by seventh year Head Coach Brian Lewis, will start their season with a trip to Joplin, Mo. the weekend of February 17 for matchups with Evangel University (Mo.), William Woods University (Mo.), Morningside University (Iowa), and William Penn University (Iowa).
The remaining games of the season would all be double headers, starting with trips to Ottawa University (Kan.) February 24 and 25, Graceland University (Iowa) March 4 and 5, and Columbia College (Mo.) March 11 and 12.
Conference play starts March 17 and 18 as the V-Hawks, led by Second Team All-NSAA infielder Kendal Hofer and All-NSAA Honorable Mentions Blake Warner and Brandon Jaenke, host defending regular season and conference tournament champions Bellevue University (Neb.) in their home conference opener. The next week, Viterbo travels to Dickinson State University (N.D.), seeking revenge on the team that knocked them out of the winner's bracket at the conference tournament, then host Valley City State in a rematch of Viterbo's 15-6 win in a knockout game in the conference tournament March 31 and April 1.
The V-Hawks then travel back-to-back weekends to Dakota State, who Viterbo upset in the first round, then ended the V-Hawks season, and Mayville State (N.D.), who took the season series 1-3 over the V-Hawks last year.
Viterbo then ends the regular season with home series against last year's eighth seed Presentation (S.D.) April 21 and 22, and Waldorf (Iowa) April 28 and 29. The NSAA Conference Tournament begins on May 5th and lasts until May 8th.
