Three V-Hawks earn All-Conference in their first season with the team

FOREST CITY, Iowa – The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) announced its postseason baseball awards Thursday evening at the Boman Fine Arts Center, hosted by Waldorf (Iowa). The NSAA Baseball All-Conference teams, postseason awards and Gold Glove team were voted on by the league's coaches.

The V-Hawks had three all-conference award winners: Kendal Hofer, Brandon Jaenke, and Blake Warner. Hofer was named to the NSAA Second-Team in his first season with the V-Hawks. He hit .329 during the regular season, collecting a team-high 53 hits. Hofer also led the team in runs scored (40), stolen bases (5), walks (32), on base percentage (.449), and was tied for the lead in doubles (11). He maintained a .928 fielding percentage for the season and led the team with 116 assists.

Warner and Jaenke were each named NSAA Honorable Mention All-Conference in their first seasons with the V-Hawks. Warner led the V-Hawks with five home runs and 34 runs batted in during the regular season.

He collected 43 hits, including nine doubles and held a .307 average and .493 slugging percentage. His 30 walks for the year was the second most on the team and his 69 put outs was the fourth-best on the team. Jaenke pitched 34 innings for the V-Hawks this season, striking out 57 batters. He led the team with 15.09 strikeouts per nine innings and allowed only 14 walks.

The Viterbo baseball team will face the No. 2-seeded Dakota State Trojans tonight in the NSAA Conference Tournament. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 PM CDT at Waldorf University. The winner of the game will play at 7:00 PM on Saturday night and the loser will play a final game tomorrow at 12:00 PM. Follow the action on our website or by following us on social media.
