Viterbo Baseball falls to Clarke University in nonconference matchup at home

LA CROSSE, Wis. - The Viterbo University Baseball team took on Clarke University Pride at the Viterbo Outdoor Athletic Complex this Thursday. The V-hawks played a single 9 inning game and fell to Clarke with a final score of 2-9.

Clarke University started with a strong lead in the first inning outscoring Viterbo 4-0. The Pride continued their lead in the second and third innings adding 2 points on the board and holding the V-hawks to 0. An RBI from Cody Wells and Remy Stern helped the V-hawks put the first 2 points on the board and outscore the Pride in the fifth inning 2-1. The V-hawks were unable to add additional points to the board as Clarke stretched their lead in the seventh inning adding their final 2 points of the game. The V-hawks had a new pitcher each inning with a total of 9 pitchers. Freshman Brandon Jaenke pitched one inning and struck out all three batters he faced. The V-hawks ended the day with an overall record of 12-30 and conference record of 4-16.

The Viterbo Baseball team will travel to face the Presentation College Saints in a four-game series this Saturday at 1:00 PM & 4:00 PM, and Sunday at 12:00 PM & 3:00 PM CDT. Follow the action on our website or by following us on social media.
