V-Hawks go 1-1 to wrap up four-game series in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Viterbo Baseball team (5-3) wrapped up their four-game series with another double header against the Kansas Christian College Falcons on Friday afternoon. The V-Hawks went 1-1 on the day, winning game one 8-7 and dropping game two 6-4 .

In game one, it was Viterbo's turn to get the scoring started early. The V-Hawks put up four runs in the first, one in the second, and two in the third to start the game. However, the Falcons were able to come back, scoring three in the second and four in the third to tie the game. A big run in the fifth gave the V-Hawks a one-run advantage and solid pitching shut the Falcons out for the remaining of the game, sealing the 8-7 win.

In game two, the two squads were tied at one run after the Falcons scored once in the first and V-Hawks scored once in the second. At the top of the fifth, the V-Hawks got the scoring started again, putting up three runs to take the lead, but it was short-lived as the Falcons answered with five runs of their own in the bottom of the inning to give them the lead and get the win.

The V-Hawks will return to the field to play in the Joplin Classic in Joplin, Missouri on Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 PM CST against Graceland. Follow the action on our website or by following us on social media.
