V-Hawks fall to Kansas Christian in spring season opener

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Viterbo Baseball team (4-2) opened the spring half of their season on Thursday afternoon in Kansas City against Kansas Christian College. The V-Hawks dropped the first two games of the four-game series that continues on Friday, 11-4 and 11-7.

In game one, the V-Hawks got out to a slow start, giving up four runs in the first inning, followed by one run in the third and three runs in the fourth. Viterbo started chipping away in the fifth and sixth, scoring four runs, but the Falcons answered with three more runs of their own, sealing the win.

The Falcons came out swinging hot bats again in the first inning of game two, putting up six runs off of the V-Hawk starter. The V-Hawks were again able to chip away in the later innings, scoring one in the third, two in the fourth, three in the fifth, and one in the sixth, but other than the fourth inning, the Falcons were able to answer each time with runs of their own to get the victory.

The Viterbo Baseball team will continue the four-game series against Kansas Christian Friday afternoon, with game one beginning at noon.
