Danaher hired as first Esports coach in Viterbo history

LA CROSSE, Wis. - Viterbo University Athletics announced the hiring of its first-ever esports head coach on Tuesday. Megan Danaher will lead the Viterbo Esports team in its inaugural season starting in the 2022-23 school year.

Originally from Newnan, Georgia, Danaher graduated from Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida in October of 2021 where she received her bachelor's degree in Creative Writing and her master's degree in Sports Business. While attending Full Sail, she was a part of Full Sail Armada, the university's collegiate esports organization. During her time within the organization, she was featured in the October 2020 issue of The Red Bulletin, Red Bull's monthly magazine covering sports, culture, music, and lifestyle topics. She also works for Wisdom Gaming, a premier gaming company in Minnesota that specializes in esports production, content creation, tournament organization, and design.

"I'm very excited to have this opportunity and to bring a ray of Georgia sunshine to esports at Viterbo," said Danaher.

Megan now resides in La Crosse with her two cats Cookie and Emma. She enjoys watching anime, playing video games, and streaming on Twitch.

"We are thrilled to welcome Megan to the Viterbo family," said Director of Athletics, Barry Fried. "Her passion and knowledge for esports make her a great fit for the position and we are excited to launch this new program."
