Multiple V-Hawks Break Records on First Day of Conference Meet

MADISON, SD – The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Outdoor Track and Field Championships are underway at Dakota State University. The Viterbo Women's Track team is currently in third place out of six teams with 62 points.

Dickinson State (ND) leads the way with 122 points, and Dakota State (SD) is in second with 70.

Pearla Teko-Folly earned a gold medal in the triple jump, recording a mark of 10.89m (35'8.75").

In the pole vault, both Olivia Wingo and Emma Johnson cleared 3.70m (12'1.5"), breaking the Viterbo school record and taking second and third place, respectively. Emily Howell was fourth at 3.55m (11'7.75"), Emily Ludwig cleared 3.10m (10'2") for fifth, and Monica Schmidt took seventh with 2.65m (8'8.25").

Ludwig and Johnson were also top finishers in the 100 hurdles, as Ludwig finished in 14.85 seconds for third, and Johnson finished in 15.00 seconds for fourth. Ashley Veronen also scored in the event, taking fifth with a time of 15.17.

The V-Hawks 4x800 meter relay team made of Lauren Cole, Hannah Butler, Vanessa Thomas, and Tori Gerber took home the bronze, recording a time of 10:34.3.

The final scorers of the day include Claudia Schunk and Lainey Teynor taking 5th (1:00.37) and 7th (1:01.67) in the 400 meter dash, respectively.
