Piekarski Finishes Top-15 at Clarke
DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Viterbo University Women's Bowling team competed at the Clarke University (Iowa) invite, hosted at Dubuque's Cherry Lane this weekend. The V-Hawks finished sixth out of 11 teams with a total score of 6862.
William Penn University (Iowa) were the Champions with a score of 8023. Viterbo was 133 pins behind
Iowa Western Community College for fifth place, and edged out Iowa Central Community College in seventh place by 16 pins.
Carlee Hummel of Culver-Stockton College (Mo.) was the individual champion, with a total of 1103, an average of 221, and a high of 226.
Lynn Piekarski was the top performer for the V-Hawks, finishing 13th overall at 946 over her five games, averaging 189 with a high of 199. Ceri Deacon was just behind her teammate in 19th, scoring 909, averaging 182, and having a high of 204. Holly Santucci had the best game of any V-Hawk, bowling a 210 in her fourth game, en route to finishing 26th with a total of 864 and averaging 173.
Kendall Sheldon and Haley Bogdan each played four games, finishing 41st and 45th, respectively. Sheldon scored 657 while averaging 164, while Bogdan scored 557, averaging 139. Madelyn Schwartz was the final competitor for the V-Hawks, scoring 244 and averaging 122 over two games.
The V-Hawks scored 4177 in their regular games, which was eighth in the competition, then scored 2685 in the baker games, seventh best.
The V-Hawks will travel to Weston, Wis. on Saturday, January 28 and Sunday, January 29 for the GLBC Meet #3.
