Bogdonovich Leads V-Hawks to a Victory on Senior Day

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo University Softball team defeated Dakota State University (SD), 9-4 on Sunday afternoon, before then losing 7-4. The V-Hawks now sit at 8-29 (5-11 NSAA), while the Trojans are now 7-24 (4-12 NSAA).

DSU scored a pair of runs in the top of the first, but Viterbo responded with a huge start to the game, as Amanda Bogdonovich recorded a three-RBI double, scoring Sydney Haakenson, Megan Jardine, and Makayla Nortman. Courtney Denton then added a two-RBI single, Norman's single brought in Kate Olsen, and Jardine tripled to bring home Nortman, Denton, and Alina Garstka, putting Viterbo up 9-2. Dakota State put up one run in the second, but even though the V-Hawks only managed one more hit over the rest of the game, one more run in the seventh from DSU was not enough.

Nortman had three hits for the V-Hawks, while Jardine and Bogdonovich each had three RBIs. Hannah McFarland had three hits for DSU. Alexis Watson (W, 5-11) earned the complete game win, while Analicia Burgos (L, 0-3) recorded the loss.

The Trojans took the first lead of the second game as well behind a solo home run in the second, and added another run in the third. Viterbo took the advantage back in the bottom of the frame with a Haakenson RBI double and Marissa Carter-Olson two-RBI single. However, DSU went up again in the fourth, scoring four runs on three hits. In the fifth, the Trojans brought the score to 7-3. Grace Elton's sacrifice bunt got the V-Hawks back on the board, but the comeback attempt ended there.

Carter-Olson had a pair of hits for Viterbo, while Michelle Evdos had three for DSU. Emily Roberts (L, 0-6) recorded the loss, while Delaney Barrett (W, 6-8) collected the win.

The V-Hawks return to action on Thursday, April 18 as they host Judson University (Ill.)
