V-Hawks Compete at Warhawk Invitational

ADDISON, Ill. – The Viterbo University Men's Bowling team competed at the UW-Whitewater Warhawk Invitational this weekend at Stardust Bowl. The V-Hawks finished with a team score of 8,767, placing 15th out of 28 teams.

Mount Mercy University claimed the team title with a score 9591 on Saturday, while Marian University won in bracket play on Sunday. Alex Acosta of Saint Xavier University was the individual champion, shooting a 1,379 over six games for an average of 229.8.

Anthony Pope was the V-Hawks' top performer, scoring 1,267 over six games (211.2 avg.), with a high of 256 in the third game. Calvin Schneider finished 33rd, sitting at 202.5 over six games (1,215 total), and peaking in the fourth game with a 220, while Mikey Voge was just behind him in 37th with an average of 201.7 and total of 1,210, reaching 234 in his sixth game.

Austin Calmes bowled three games, reaching 234 in his first game, totaling 600 for an average of 200, and Brayton Fandrich bowled 543 over his three games (181 avg.), breaking 200 in his second game at 214.

Mason Barsness placed 240th with 239 over two games (164.5 avg), just ahead of Erik Ludden in 244th with 325 (16.5 avg.), and Matthew Wejrowski finished 253rd averaging 144.5 over two games for a total of 289.

The V-Hawks did not qualify for bracket play on Sunday.

Viterbo returns to action of Saturday, January 21 at the Clarke Invite.
