Men's Basketball falls in weekend finale

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo Men's Basketball team (9-9) fell to the Dickinson State Blue Hawks (7-12) on Saturday night at R.W. Beggs Sr. Gymnasium, 71-84.

The Blue Hawks shot an impressive 48.3% from the field, including 44.4% from three in the first half. Robert Cunitz scored 12 points of the V-Hawks 29 points to lead the team into the locker room after the first 20 minutes, down by eight.

The Blue Hawks kept the hot hand in half number two, shooting 50% from the field and 63.6% from behind the arc. The V-Hawks improved their shooting in the second half, going 12-24 from the field and 5-10 from downtown. After being down 31-45 four minutes into half number two, the V-Hawks made a strong push to pull within one point, 61-62, with 6:30 left in the game. However, the Blue Hawks went on a 22-10 run to close out the game and seal the victory, 84-71.

The V-Hawks had three players in double-digits, led by Brady Polk with 17. Cunitz and Jack Monis followed closely with 16 points each. The V-Hawks will travel to Bellevue next weekend to face the Bruins. Tipoff is scheduled for Friday night at 7:30 PM CST. Follow the action on our website or by following us on social media.
