FOREST CITY, Iowa – The Viterbo Men's Basketball team (4-5) dropped their conference opener 75-68 on Saturday night versus Waldorf University (3-7).
The V-Hawks came roaring out of the gates, building a 9-0 lead to start the game, but the Warriors were able to regain their composure and tie the score at 13 with 14:25 to go in the half. After bouncing back-and-forth for a bit, a Nolan Martin three-pointer gave the V-Hawks a 20-18 lead and sparked a 7-0 run. Viterbo was able to maintain a lead going into halftime; however, with 1:16 left in the game, and the score tied at 66, the Warriors went on a 9-2 to seal the win.
Jack Monis led all players with 25 points and 15 rebounds. Martin and Nicholas Malovrh each added 15 points of their own. The V-Hawks will be back in action on Wednesday night to take on Olivet Nazarene in Bourbonnais, Illinois. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 PM CST.
