Men's Basketball remains undefeated after home victory Tuesday

LA CROSSE, Wis. - The Viterbo University Men's Basketball hosted Edgewood College on Tuesday night at R. W. Beggs Sr. Gymnasium. The V-Hawks defeated the Eagles, 80-68.

Robert Cunitz sunk two three-pointers to kick things off for Viterbo, giving them the early 6-0 jump on Edgewood. The Eagles never led throughout the whole 40 minutes of play. Although the Eagles tied things up, Viterbo went on a 16-6 run to end the half, sending them into the locker room leading 32-22.

Cunitz made two threes within two minutes to start the second half offensively for the V-Hawks. Noah Fredrickson contributed 14 of his 22 points in the second half. Despite efforts for an Edgewood comeback, late free throws for the V-Hawks kept their lead at ten to seal the win.

Fredrickson led Viterbo in points with 22. Cunitz was right behind him with 20 points of his own. Brady Polk had a double-double, scoring 12 points and contributing 10 rebounds. Polk also had a team-high four assists.

As a team, Viterbo shot 47.7 percent from the field. They out-rebounded the Eagles 37-29 and capitalized on this by converting 12 second-chance points, compared to the Eagles' three second-chance points, respectively.

The V-Hawks will travel to Northwestern (Iowa) for a weekend tournament. Viterbo will face Northwestern at 8:00 p.m. CST at the Bultman Center in Orange City, Iowa. Follow the action on viterboathletics.com or by following us on social media.
