Jimmies back in win column with sweep of Viterbo

The 11th-ranked Jimmie men's volleyball team returned to winning ways with a sweep at Viterbo (Wis.) University on Saturday. Set scores were 25-19, 25-17, 25-16.

Oguzhan Oguz and Downey Huynh each led UJ with 11 kills apiece, while Caylor Cox finished with 10. Cox hit .429 for the match, with only one error on 21 attempts.

UJ outhit the V-Hawks .364 to .167 in the first set, with 16 of their points coming on kills. Jamestown matched their offensive output in set two with 16 more kills, and had a .308 to .111 advantage in hitting percentage.

The Jimmies hit .231 in the third set and held Viterbo to -.031 while forcing the V-Hawks into 10 attack errors. Kills were nearly even (10-9 UJ), but six less errors aided Jamestown in the win.

Derek Correa passed out 32 assists with six digs and a pair of block assists. Adam Lopata had 10 digs and Sebastian Ignaczak added seven. Ever Cancel had three total blocks, including one solo.

Next up for the Jimmies is a 1 p.m. match on Monday at Cardinal Stritch (Wis.) University.
