eSports roundup: Rocket League begins conference title defense with sweep

MIDWAY, Ky. - The spring portion of the Midway eSports schedule has begun, and one Eagle team easily picked up where it left off last semester.

Fresh off an undefeated fall that concluded with a Mideast Conference championship, Midway Rocket League returned in dominant fashion with a 3-0 win over Eastern on Friday.

Trevor Howard and Nicholas Newman both had four goals. Newman added seven saves and three assists while Newman had four saves and four assists to help the Rocket League squad earn its 12th consecutive victory.

CALL OF DUTY

Midway has split Call of Duty into three teams, with the the CCL team beginning the new year with a 4-1 record. After losing their opener 3-2 to CSP, the Eagles responded with 3-0 wins over Ashland, Viterbo and Wright State before earning a narrow 3-2 win over Minnesota State Mankato last Tuesday.

The Eagles' CXP team opened the spring with a 3-0 win against High Point before suffering 3-0 losses to Marsh Hill and Newberry.

The third squad, known as Call of Duty 2, lost its opener 3-1 to Dunwoody on Wednesday.

OVERWATCH 

The Overwatch team began its spring with a 3-0 loss to the University of the Cumberlands on Thursday.
