St. Ambrose falls at Viterbo

The Bees were unable to pull off a second half comeback on Tuesday, resulting in a 2-1 defeat at Viterbo. Both teams recorded 11 shots in the game, with the Bees having a 6-4 advantage in shots during the first half.

Viterbo (7-4-6, 3-3-3 CCAC) had its first shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the shot was saved by Zach Bauer. The V-Hawks would open the scoring in the 17th minute. SAU (4-8-2, 4-5 CCAC) recorded a couple of shots in the 20th minute, but they were both blocked. The Bees went into halftime facing a 1-0 deficit.

In the second half, Viterbo extended the lead to 2-0 in the 62nd minute. It did not take the Bees long to respond, as Justin Tackett scored just three minutes later to trim the deficit to 2-1. St. Ambrose was able to record three shots on goal in the final 20 minutes, but they were all saved. Jorge Brizuela and Tackett each led the Bees in shots, each totaling three.

The Bees are next in action on Saturday. They travel to Crown Point, Ind., to face Governors State in the CCAC regular-season finale.
