Viterbo extends win streak to 14 after defeating Valley City State
VALLEY CITY, N.D. – The Viterbo Women's Volleyball team (21-1) took care of business on Saturday afternoon, beating Valley City State University to improve to 3-0 in NSAA play. The V-Hawks won behind scores of 25-12, 23-25, 25-20, and 25-8.
The V-Hawks dominated set one with strong all-around play. The V-Hawks had 16 kills in set one and hit .448% to cruise to victory. The Vikings were much improved in set two, holding the V-Hawks to 12 kills and 12 errors, and taking the set. Set three was similar, with neither team being able to get more than a three-point lead. Tied at 19 in set three, a kill by Miah Garant sparked the final V-Hawk run to seal the set three win. Viterbo was back to their usual selves in set four, utilizing big service runs to separate themselves. A service ace from Kenidi McCabe sealed the set and match.
The V-Hawks hit .206% for the match with 51 kills. They also collected seven aces and 15 blocks. Garant led the team with 15 kills and 10 blocks. Maya Roberts followed with 10 kills and seven blocks while Kenzie Winker and Katie Frohmader added nine kills each. Adrianna Reinhart led with 23 digs while Abbey Johnson collected 21 assists, followed by Lauryn Sobasky with 18 assists.
The Viterbo Women's Volleyball team will be back home on Thursday night to take on Presentation College. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 PM CST. Follow the action on our website or by following us on social media.
