V-Hawks End Season in CCAC Quarterfinals
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The V-Hawk women traveled to South Bend to face off against the Indiana South Bend Titans in the first round of the CCAC tournament. Despite a hard-fought effort, the V-Hawks came up short, falling to the Titans 71-65. The V-Hawks finish their season 14-14 and 12-8 in the conference, the most conference wins in recorded program history. The Titans advance to the semifinals where they will take on the St. Ambrose Fighting Bees.
The V-Hawks were led offensively by Carly Drew. Drew dropped in 16 points for the V-Hawks. Shortly behind Drew was Shayna Williamson with 14 points, going 3-4 from three. Nora Tucker put up 11 points for the V-Hawks as well. Defensively, Pearla Teko-Folly added nine rebounds for the V-Hawk efforts, while Carly Drew picked up seven.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The V-Hawks scored first on a Chloe Auth layup
- The game remained close until a short run from the Titans
- The V-Hawks were down 15-8 after the first quarter
- The V-Hawks went down 19-10 in the second
- Scoring from Carly Drew and Nora Tucker fought back
- Three points from Shayna Williamson brought the V-Hawks within three
- A Carly Drew three pointer put the V-Hawks within two at 37-35 going into halftime
- Out of the half, the V-Hawks took the lead on Kira John scoring at 40-39
- Scoring from Cece Davis gave the V-Hawks a lead again at 45-43
- The Titans had the 47-45 lead with one quarter left
- With five minutes remaining, Shayna Williamson tied the match
- The V-Hawks got within two at 67-65 with 30 seconds remaining
- Late free throws from the Titans gave them a four point lead
- The V-Hawks fell to the Titans 71-65
With the loss, the V-Hawks conclude their 2025-26 season. The V-Hawk Women's Basketball program and the V-Hawk Athletics Department thank the seniors for their dedication and contributions to the team. The V-Hawks will return in the fall of 2026.
