V-Hawks Drop to Pointers on the Road
STEVENS POINT, Wis. -- The V-Hawks traveled to Stevens Point on Wednesday night to face off against the UW-Stevens Point Pointers. The V-Hawks were swept in the match versus the pointers and fall to 2-11 on the year. The Pointers improve to 7-9 overall.
Offensively, the V-Hawks were led by Owen Collitt and Styrk Myhre. Collitt scored six kills for the V-Hawks on a 0.385 hitting percentage, while Styrk Myhre added five kills on a 0.273 percentage. Logan Amdur led the way with assists, putting up fifteen on the night. He also led in digs with six, and tied in the lead with blocks, adding one to the tally. Styrk Myhre also added one block for the V-Hawks. The two aces of the night came from Styrk Myhre and Ethan Davis.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Riley Connors scored the first point for the V-Hawks in the first set. The V-Hawks went down 10-3 early in the first set. Scoring from Logan Amdur and Ethan Davis combatted this, but the Pointers continued to pull away. The V-Hawks last point of the set came on a block from Myhre and Amdur. They fell in the first set 25-10.
- The V-Hawks scored the first point of the second set, followed by a kill from Owen Collitt. The teams were tied at 9-9, but the Pointers went on a 3-0 run to take the lead. Points from Owen Collitt and Styrk Myhre kept the V-Hawks within two points. The Pointers pulled away near the end of the set. The V-Hawks fell in set two 25-17.
- In the third set, the V-Hawks took the 2-1 lead early. A 5-0 run from the Pointers gave them the lead, but the V-Hawks responded with a 4-1 run with kills from Styrk Myhre and Brody Dunlap. Despite their efforts, the V-Hawks went down 13-7 in the middle of the set. Another run from the Pointers gave them a 17-8 lead, and the V-Hawks struggled to recover. A late 4-0 run from the V-Hawks with kills from Styrk Myhre and Ethan Davis and an ace from Davis brought the V-Hawks back within eight, but they eventually fell in set three 25-16.
