Her Lead V-Hawks in Sweep over TIU

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo University Mens Volleyball team swept Trinity International University (Ill.) 3-0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-19) in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) bout on Friday. The V-Hawks improve to 7-14 (4-7 CCAC) while the Trojans fall to 0-16 (0-11 CCAC).

Jacob Nonn's kills and service ace, along with Joe Tod's kill would give Viterbo an early 5-9 lead in the first. Todd added a kill, as did Garran Wilming, to extend that lead to 16-9 before Logan Amdur's ace brought it to 22-12. Errors by the Trojans helped the V-Hawks and Garran Wilming ended the set with a kill, 25-13.

Todd started the second with a kill for Viterbo, as well as an ace, and Kou Her and Alex Kratzenstein contributed their own kills to put VU up 5-2. While TIU would take a 10-11 lead, Ktratzenstein ended the run and Justin Kratzenstein put down consecutive balls to take back the lead 19-15. Juan Banda had a pair of aces, and TIU errors ended the set in Viterbo's favor, 25-18.

The Trojans started the third with a barrage of errors, and after Her's kill and Nonn's ace, Viterbo led 7-2. After both teams traded plenty of errors, TIU closed the gap to 13-11. J. Kratzenstein put down another kill, followed by Todd and Caleb Koza, and Viterbo led 20-16. Wilming and Her had late kills and an error sealed the match, 22-19.

Her led all players with 10 kills while hitting .500, Amdur had 19 assists, and A. Kratzenstein had three blocks for the V-Hawks. Matthew Perry had eight kills for the Trojans.

The V-Hawks travel to Arizona next week for four matches.
