Hanson Named Men’s Golf Coach at Viterbo

LA CROSSE, Wis. - Viterbo University announced the hiring of Taylor Hanson as their new head men's golf coach.

"I want to express gratitude for the opportunity to become the next head coach of the Viterbo men's golf program," said Hanson. "As an alumnus of Viterbo and the men's golf program, I am committed to developing our student-athletes not only as golfers, but as individuals that represent the Viterbo values."

Hanson's ties to the Viterbo golf programs run deep as he was a four-year member of the V-Hawk men's golf team from 2013-17. During that time, he earned First Team All-Conference and Second Team All-Conference accolades. He was also named Academic All-Conference and recognized as an NSAA and NAIA Scholar Athlete.

Following graduation, Hanson served as an assistant men's golf coach for Viterbo for three years before transitioning to assist the V-Hawk women's program for two years. Most recently, he served as an assistant for the UW-La Crosse women's golf program. Hanson's other coaching experience includes being an assistant basketball coach for Viterbo,

"Taylor lives our mission and values and will be great fit for this position," said Viterbo Athletics Director, Barry Fried. "He has significant playing and coaching experience, and he has earned this opportunity. I look forward to what lies ahead."

Hanson currently serves as an Assistant Professor in Economics and Management at Viterbo and will complete his Doctor of Education in Ethical Leadership from Viterbo this Fall. He holds a Master of Servant Leadership, Master of Business Administration, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree—all from Viterbo University.

"I'm looking forward to building relationships with our current golfers to build a culture of excellence and gratitude while engaging with alumni and future V-Hawks," said Hanson. "Our student-athletes are exceptional, and the men's golf program is on a strong trajectory toward sustained success."

Hanson and his wife, Ashley, reside in West Salem. His official began his role as our new head men's coach on June 16.
