Morningside falls to viterbo 1-0.

Unbeaten streak snapped against V-Hawks

SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Morningside's men's soccer team was in search of a win or a draw to extend its four game unbeaten streak, staking it against Viterbo University, who was receiving votes in the latest National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics coaches' poll. To the dismay of the Mustang faithful, the V-Hawks took the win, 1-0.

Morningside's defense took top honors for the home team, as collaboratively they redirected all but five shots on goal. Oliver Melander, in his first start for the Mustangs, recorded five saves, allowing the game winning goal to trickle in in the 34th minute.

The Mustangs are back in action on Wednesday, playing Great Plains Athletic Conference perennial powerhouse, Hastings, in an 8 p.m. contest.
