TIGERS DROP ROAD MATCHUP 5-0 TO VITERBO UNIVERSITY

La Crosse, Wis. – Dakota Wesleyan men's soccer team came up short against Viterbo University by a score of 5-0 during a road matchup in La Crosse, Wis. The Tigers fall to 0-1-1 on the season while the Hawks improve to 3-0-0.

Recap

DWU was on the attack early with a shot on goal from Isaias Pio in the first minute of the game.  The shot was saved by the Hawks goalkeeper. The Tigers would have another scoring look with a shot from Juan Gomez that ended up missing high over the goal.  Score remained 0-0 in the ninth minute.

Viterbo would get on the board with a pair of goals in the 18th minute to make it a 2-0 advantage Hawks. DWU would fail to record another shot the rest of the half with the Hawks recording two shots that would both miss the goal.  The score would sit at 2-0 in favor of Viterbo University. The Hawks would be given yellow cards in the 36th and 39th minute.

VU would open the second half with a trio of shots that all missed high, keeping it a 2-0 match. In the 56th minute the Tigers would threaten to close the two-score deficit with a goal look from Pio, but the attempt would be handled again by the Hawks goalkeeper. Viterbo would extend their lead to 3-0 with a goal in the 63rd minute.

 The Hawks would have another scoring look in the 73rd minute with a shot on goal, but DWU goalkeeper Hunter Birozy would come up with his second save of the match keeping it 3-0. The Tigers would be given yellow cards in the 81st and 82nd minute. VU would add on late with their fourth and fifth goal of the match in the 83rd and 85th minute for a final score of 5-0.
