Blue Hawks battle hard but fall to #6 Viterbo

DICKINSON, N.D. – Dickinson State put together one of their best efforts of the season, but unfortunately it came against #6 Viterbo University as the Blue Hawks fell 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 25-19) on Thursday evening in Scott Gym.

Dickinson State held leads in each of the three sets, putting a scare into the national powerhouse V-Hawks, but each time Viterbo was able to claw back into the set and come out on top. The Blue Hawks put together an especially strong block throughout the night, with Brooklyn Wyllie leading the way with 5 solo blocks.

Leading 9-2 early in the third set, it looked as if the Blue Hawks may finally break through on a night it seemed they had all the momentum and steal a set from the league leaders. However, the V-Hawks battled all the way back to tie the set at 19-19 before taking the final six points, and the match.

McKenzie Moser continued her strong play with 9 kills, a team high, and Haydin Henschel had 18 digs to lead DSU. Setter Bailey Pearcy had 19 assists to go along with 6 digs.
