4x100, Pole Vaulters Set to Compete at National Championships

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The NAIA has officially announced the qualifier list fir the NAIA Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships, and six V-Hawks are set to compete in Marian, Ind. at the meet hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University.

Viterbo's 4x100m relay team of Claudia Schunk, Breanna Ihde, Ashley Veronen, and Lana Yeakel punched their ticket to nationals at the Dubuque Relays Meet after setting a new Viterbo record with a time of 47.77 (NAIA A Standard). They would also set a new North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Outdoor Championship Meet record while claiming the conference title.

Two V-Hawk pole vaulters also qualified for the National Meet. Bailey Nuutinen, Sr., Ashland, Wis., looks to add her second All-American award after finishing fifth at least year's Championship Meet. She surpassed the NAIA B standard at the University of Dubuque Good Friday Open after clearing 3.55m (11' 7.75"). Emma Johnson, So., Byron, Minn., makes her first appearance at the NAIA National Championships this year, matching the 3.55m (11' 7.75") height of B Standard. She earned this mark at the Dubuque Relays meet, and was also named All-Conference in the pole vault at the NSAA Championship Meet.

The National Championship Meet will run from May 24-26. The 4x100m relay prelims are the first track event of the week, starting at 2:00 pm on Wednesday. The finals are scheduled for 12:40 pm on Friday. The pole vault competition will begin at 11 am on Wednesday.
